Troy and Canadian delegation meet local businesses people

Westmeath County Council welcomed a high-level Canadian delegation to Mullingar as Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Robert Troy, hosted Canada’s Ambassador to Ireland, Dennis King, and Senior Trade Commissioner Adeline Grenier for a series of engagements with local businesses.

The visit, organised in partnership with LEO Westmeath, centred on exploring new opportunities for local companies to access and expand into the Canadian market. A number of enterprises were invited to showcase their products and ambitions, highlighting the region’s growing reputation for innovation and export potential.

Among the businesses in attendance were Tapitag, represented by John McHugh and Mark Gibbons; Bevcraft, represented by Ciaran Gorman and Darren Fenton; Acentryx, represented by John Henry; Strikebox, represented by John O’Reilly; Watt Footprint, represented by Paul O’Reilly; and Bell Lane Coffee, represented by Stephen Bell.

Council representatives and LEO Westmeath said they were delighted to facilitate discussions aimed at strengthening trade links and supporting local firms in competing internationally. The visit was described as a valuable opportunity to deepen connections between Westmeath’s enterprise sector and Canadian markets.
