Councillor seeks improved disabled parking at library

Cllr David Jones has called for improved disabled parking at Castlepollard Library, highlighting the need for better access for people with mobility difficulties.

At the November meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District, he asked whether the council could provide new disabled parking spaces that meet minimum standards and allow for rear access to the library.

The Municipal District advised that it will examine the provision of additional disabled parking in the library car park.

Cllr Jones said the request came after a local resident with a disability contacted him. “It’s actually someone with a disability who contacted me about the parking at the back of the library. It’s just on a hill — maybe a bit of ground can be taken out at the back of the library to make it easier for people with disabilities to access the library,” he said.
