Plans for Tyrrellspass mast
Westmeath County Council planners have been approached by a UK-registered company to develop a telecommunications support structure near Tyrrellspass. APWireless UK WIP Ltd (t/a Icon Tower) made the pre-validation approach in respect of a development at L51154 Road, Garrane, Tyrrellspass.
It concerns a 27-metre high monopole telecommunications support structure, antennas, dishes, remote radio units (RRUs), aircraft warning light, lightning finial and associated equipment.
It would have ground-based equipment cabinets and a mini pillar, and a compound enclosed by palisade fencing and an access gate.
The planing file was received on December 4, with the planners indicating that a decision could be reached by February 2, 2026.
The set down area will have a new access track from existing access track to the proposed development, a monopole foundation and all associated site development works to provide for high speed wireless data and broadband services.
