Next year, 2026, is nearly here and hopefully, you will have opportunities for life enhancing activities and fun. BMB Active will continue to be a bottom up organisation, as always, taking direction from members and friends with ideas of what they are interested in doing.

There are exciting day outings, mini breaks, and classes that will be available on an ongoing basis.

The BMB Active committee will keep you updated with texts and via the notes you are reading so you will be fully informed about what is going on and you can opt in simply by texting 0871723256. BMB Active look forward to hearing from you with your questions, thoughts, and ideas in 2026.

Singing and Music

For BMB Active on Wednesdays in Rathowen, join ‘the oldest swingers in town’. Do you sing or play an instrument. Perhaps you like to listen and sing along. Whatever your preference, not join in the BMB Active sing along each 2 each Wednesday in Rathowen. Trad Thursdays in Connaughton’s, Rathowen at 8pm each Thursday for BMB ceol agus craic fans.

BMB classes and activities

AT Multyfarnham Community Centre. Check that your favourite activity is on this week as some classes take a break until mid-January.

Monday, Pickleball is at 10.30 to 12.30. Pilates is at 9, 10 and 11, with seated Pilates at 12. Bridge is at 1.30 to 4. Tuesday, Go for Life is at 12 in the main hall. Crafts are on 1.30 to 3 in the meeting room. Wednesday, Pickleball is on 10.30 to 12.30. Acrylics are on from 9.30 to 11.30. Watercolours are on at 12 to 2. Music and Movement is on at 12.45 to 1.45. Thursday, Oil painting is on at 10. Bowls is on 2.30 to 4. Friday, Pickleball is on at 10.30 to 12.30. Yoga is on at 11 for floor yoga and 12 for seated yoga. Pickleball enthusiasts can also play with Multyfarnham Pickleball Club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7 as well as on Saturday mornings from 11. Trad Thursdays

All are welcome to attend BMB Active traditional Irish music sessions on Thursdays from 8pm in Connaughton’s.

Slieve Russell

Slieve Russell Hotel Christmas dinner and overnight break enjoyed by two bus loads from BMB Active. On Tuesday December 9, BMB Active celebrated Christmas a little early with an overnight break in the famous Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, Cavan.

The full buses arrived early on Tuesday afternoon, giving everyone plenty of time to settle in and enjoy the salubrious surroundings. The hardest part of the experience was trying to decide on beef or salmon for the evening meal. Dancers took to the floor after dinner and the entertainment was spot on. After a buffet breakfast many ventured on woodland walks, while others availed of the spa pool and jacuzzi. It was a lovely, relaxed occasion enjoyed by almost a hundred folks. Christmas table craft

Opportunity to get creative and craft your own bespoke Christmas table centrepiece in a fun atmosphere with friends. Biodiversity

A few weeks ago, Multyfarnham was the venue for Klaus Laithenberg to give an impactful workshop on organic gardening and edible planting. There’s still so much to learn. Klaus will lead a Biodiversity workshop in Belvedere House and Gardens on Tuesday, January 13. If you are interested, please text ‘Workshop Yes’ to 0871723256.

Thanks. Climate Conversations Course Wednesday Jan 14, 10.30 to 12.30, Westmeath County Council will host a Climate Conversations course. An opportunity to learn more about the effectiveness of minute actions we can all take to make an impact on our planet.
