St Mary’s NS, Rathowen hosts first Christmas fair

St Mary’s National School, Rathowen, held its very first Christmas fair on Friday December 12, and it proved to be a wonderful success. The school was a hive of activity throughout the day, filled with festive cheer and a strong sense of community spirit.

The celebrations began with performances by the pupils, who sang Christmas songs and played music, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Their efforts were warmly received by the large crowd in attendance. Adding to the festive mood, the local church choir performed a selection of much-loved Christmas carols, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Visitors were spoiled for choice at the Christmas market stalls, which featured a wide range of unique handmade decorations and fair games. There was also an abundance of delicious baked goods, along with flower arranging demonstrations, hair care services and face painting, which proved especially popular with younger visitors.

The fair was a fantastic example of the whole school community coming together to create a welcoming and inclusive event. It was heartening to see such a strong turnout, and people of all ages attending. Many former pupils took the opportunity to reminisce about their own time at St Mary’s, sharing memories and stories from years gone by while been provided with a welcome hot cup of tea or coffee.
