Uisce Éireann pump station plans
Uisce Éireann has made a pre-planning approach to Westmeath County Council regarding the decommissioning of a Westmeath wastewater pumping station.
The wastewater pumping station moves water and sewerage from one location to another. Ordinarily, the wastewater network relies on gravity to flow to treatment areas, the pump station augments that flow.
Uisce Éireann consulted with the local authority planners about the proposed development which will consist of decommissioning of the existing Kilbeggan Tullamore Road wastewater pumping station.
The work includes the demolition of existing control building, gravity diversion sewers, the removal of the existing fencing and hedging and the erection of new fencing.
The utility company will also be decommissioning existing pipelines and all associated ancillary works including surface reinstatement, all on a site of 1.2 acres.
The planners anticipate reaching a decision by February 20, 2026.
