Delays in admissions to Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar
Winter viruses, including flu and Covid-19, are continuing to cause difficulty in healthcare settings as Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar are warning about lengthy delays in admissions.
New figures show there were 2,049 winter virus cases reported last week, with 512 people hospitalised as a result.
Regional Hospital Mullingar’s Emergency Department are extremely busy today (January 6), experiencing increasing numbers of people requiring admission at this time.
In a statement the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar say they are experiencing increasing numbers of people requiring admission at this time.
Where possible, the management at Mullingar Hospital is asking patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local Pharmacist, GP, or a GP out of hours service.

Unfortunately, patients who are presenting at the ED with non-urgent conditions are experiencing very long waiting times to be seen.
Any patient who needs emergency hospital care will be seen and Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar would urge such patients not to delay attending the ED. Do not delay in seeking medical attention if you suspect you are having a heart attack or stroke, please dial 999 or 112 in an emergency.
