New face on Westmeath Local Community Development Committee

A new face is to join the Westmeath Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), to replace Hugh Farrell, who has served the maximum term.

At the December meeting of Westmeath County Council, chief executive Barry Kehoe told members that the Westmeath PPN (Public Participation Network) has nominated John Bawle, a representative of the Mullingar Employment Action Group, to take over from Mr Farrell, who has served two consecutive three year terms.

He extended his appreciation to Mr Farrell for his work over the six years. Cllr Tom Farrell proposed Mr Bawle for the role, and extended thanks to Mr Farrell, and also to the outgoing chairperson, Catherine Whelehan, who had, he said, done an outstanding job. Cllr Frankie Keena seconded the nomination.
