Mullingar Kyokushinkai Karate Club have six fighters in Irish Open Tournament next month

The Mullingar Kyokushinkai Karate Club is based at the Parish Centre Mullingar are ready to return for the new season. The club, which has been in existence since 2001, will have six Knockdown (full-contact) fighters (male and female) in the forthcoming Irish Open Tournament in DCU Sports Complex, Whitehall, Dublin D09 W6Y4, on Saturday 28 February (doors 10am).

This is an event not to be missed as competitors will be travelling and competing from all over the world. Tickets available on the door. Knockdown is a full-contact system of combat.

Participants must train and prepare well and undergo a medical prior to competing as well as keeping tabs on not exceeding their entered weight categories. Kyokushinkai Karate is a traditional Japanese Karate.

Training is not just about fighting and includes Kata (forms), general health and fitness, Kihon (basics) and self-defence. Gradings are held under a panel every three months. No previous experience is necessary and beginners are always welcome, both male and female from age six years to adult.
