Memorable finale held as new year begins

Twenty-two teams took to the course on a crisp, dry New Year’s Eve, creating a memorable finale to 2025. Sincere thanks to all who took part and contributed to a wonderful day of competition and camaraderie.

The winning team was Lady Captain Jackie Mills, Lady Vice-Captain Anne Marie Fagan, Mr Captain Stephen Lyons, and Mr Vice-Captain Lenny O’Mahony with 57 points; second place went to Colm P. Murphy, John Shaw, Adrian Charles, and Joanne Charles with 55 points.

As we turn the page to 2026, Mullingar Golf Club extends its heartfelt good wishes to all our members, families, and friends. May the year ahead bring good health, great golf, and many memorable moments on and off the course.

Gents Branch notes

Winter weather played havoc with the weekend competition, ultimately resulting in its cancellation. The Winter League has resumed using holes 1–12; this will change as work progresses on the bunkers, so please check notices at the course.

Gents Branch competition lookahead

Upcoming competitions include the Seniors 9-Hole Scramble on Tuesday January 6; the Men’s Branch January 15-Hole Stableford on Sunday January 11; the Seniors 9-Hole Stableford on Tuesday January 13; and the Men’s Branch January 15-Hole Stableford on Sunday January 18.

Mullingar Ladies Branch notes

Due to the Christmas season, there were no Ladies Branch competitions on December 24 or December 31. Competitions will resume on Wednesday January 7.

Alternate days for ladies’ competitions are the preceding Saturday and Sunday.

Winter League

The deadline for Winter League cards was Monday January 5, 2026.

Your best two individual scores will count. Play as often as you like. Team standings are based on the top five scores per team.

The top eight teams advance to match play. Please remember to record your number of putts for the bonus putting competition.

New Year Fitness at Mullingar Golf Club

Kickstart your New Year fitness at the golf club and start 2026 feeling strong and energised. The strength and conditioning class begins on January 10 at the golf club.

It is Open to all ages and fitness levels. You can boost your strength, flexibility and overall fitness. It is the perfect way to launch your new year goals.

The Mullingar Golf Club Bridge Club concluded the 2025 season on Tuesday December 16 with a delightful morning of bridge, festive mince pies and wonderful company.

During the event, President Bernadette Solan proudly presented a cheque for €1,226 to Martin Shaw of St Vincent de Paul. This impressive amount was generously raised by members of Mullingar Golf Club Bridge Club, Ennell Bridge Club, Belvedere Bridge Club and Lake Bridge Club.
