Last Saturday night in The Greville Arms Hotel, The Downs celebrated their senior team’s success in winning The Flanagan Cup and the U20s success in the Division 2 Championship in 2025 with a medal presentation and dinner dance.
Overall, it proved a wonderful night of celebration and a lovely club and community gathering. MC for the occasion was Patrick Doherty, who as always, did a wonderful job in keeping everything moving swiftly and professionally. There was a fabulous address from Chairman Aiden McGuire, a stalwart of the club for many years. Newly elected Westmeath GAA chairman Paddy Wallace was also in attendance and he addressed the gathering. The club was delighted to have Paddy and his wife present in his first official event as Westmeath Chairman and are very grateful to him for his resence and words of wisdom on the evening.
Paddy's colleague and newly elected Westmeath GAA secretary, Keith Quinn was also present.
The Downs' senior football manager, Dermot Power, and joint-captain Luke Loughlin also addressed the crowd eloquently and it was very well received. Presentations were made to both senior and U20 management teams. There was fantastic music provided by Camillus Egerton and Heads Up, followed by DJ Jude McGuinness.
The Downs would like to thank The Greville Arms management and staff for their professionalism in catering for every need on the night. The club's organising committee succeeded in producing a memorable event for all involved.
