Blueballs Midlands members learn CPR skills with Mullingar Community First Responders
Members of Blueballs Midlands dived into something new last week as they took part in a CPR course with Mullingar Community First Responders.
Damien Rooney of Blueballs said: “We are in a privileged situation to have such a brilliant facility on our doorstep in the form of Lough Owel, which we, and many others, regularly use. In the future, we would love to raise funds for a defibrillator for the car park at Lough Owel as a sort of payback.
“It would be a vital resource for the dippers who swim there year-round, and for the wider community as well, so with that in mind we decided to take this course on.
“While the course was serious, we had great fun taking part. It was killing two birds with one stone, members spending quality time bonding, while also learning a vital skill. It’s something we hope we’ll never need, but if we do, we now have the confidence and knowledge to perform CPR.
“We would strongly encourage everyone to take part in a similar course and to support Mullingar First Responders for the vital work they do in our community. First Responders save lives and also educate members of the public on what to do if an emergency situation occurs. That knowledge could make the difference in saving a life.”
