MotoCycle Racing set for Fore return
Fore MotoCycle Racing club announced that the Walderstown ‘Race of The South’ Road Races are set to return this year. First staged in 1973 the historic races have not taken to the roads of County Westmeath since 2022 when TT record holder Michael Dunlop dominated the winners podium.
Fore will host the eighth Irish road race of 2026 following a statement by the racing club on their Facebook page confirming their inclusion in the ‘Race of the South’ programme.
The social media post said: "We held a follow up meeting to the club's AGM which was well attended," and continued, "Discussion was about finalising a committee and the running of Walderstown road races, Race of the South. Fore club is delighted to announce we will be running our event in 2026. Date has yet to be decided on, but will be secured in the coming days."
That post concluded by saying: "It may have taken a while to get here, but it's a go from now. And so the hard work begins. A big thank you to all who attended both meetings, new and old members, and to those who took up positions on the committees. Let's go racing."
