Burke met Westmeath participants at Showcase
Six talented makers from Westmeath – Magdalena Weber Studio, STÓR, TED 1942, Martin Langton Furniture, Meab Enamels, and Mullingar Pewter/Silver Spirit – were among the hundreds who last week participated in Showcase 2026, Ireland’s International Creative Expo, held at the RDS.
The event drew nearly 400 exhibitors supported by the Local Enterprise Offices and more than 3,350 buyers from Europe, America, Canada, and the Middle East, projecting €32 million in sales under the theme ‘Making Irish Stories’.
Peter Burke, TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, attended the launch alongside Taoiseach Micheál Martin, championing the county’s creators as vital to Ireland’s €124 million annual craft export economy and applauding the innovation and craftsmanship on display. Minister Burke noted the significance of Irish makers to regional economies, saying the sector “represents the creativity, quality, and ambition present in every county across Ireland.”
Organised by Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI), with support from Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices, Showcase is a major platform for emerging Irish brands. This year marked the debut of 105 new exhibitors alongside 280 returning companies.
Awards announced on the opening day recognised excellence across fashion, home, gift, jewellery, and sustainability. DCCI CEO Mary Blanchfield described Showcase as “a launch pad for Irish makers reaching new global markets”.
