Man (30s) dies in single-vehicle crash in Co Monaghan

A man, aged in his 30s, died following a single-vehicle collision at Inishammon, Smithboro, Co Monaghan on Wednesday.
The crash occurred on the R187 between Monaghan and Rosslea at approximately 7.30pm.
The sole occupant of the car, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been transferred to the Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan where a postmortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.
The road remains closed pending technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R187 at Inishammon, Co Monaghan, on Wednesday between 7.15pm and 8.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
