Irish citizens in the US - We would love to hear from you

Are you an Irish citizen living in the US? We would love to speak with you and find out what life is like for Irish people living there. Is the current situation causing stress, or are you worried about what the future holds for you or your family? Or have you, a friend or family member been deported back to Ireland? We look forward to hearing your story.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Neale Richmond, confirmed a significant increase in the number of Irish citizens seeking consular assistance regarding deportation.

The numbers increased from 15 in 2024 to 65 in 2025, which may not seem like a huge increase, but Richmond said it was a “330 per cent increase”.

These figures include individuals who have already been deported or are currently undergoing the deportation process.

With the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations around the world approaching, many are urging the government to exert pressure on US politicians on these issues.

In the Dáil, Labour foreign affairs spokesman Duncan Smith said: “ICE’s figure for January to September last year was 99; we should be doing more to seek out where those Irish citizens are and where they are being held.

“I don't think it's good enough in these circumstances for us to sit back and wait.

“This is a manifestation of the creeping fascism with the United States; we need to hold the United States to account on this.”

Is the current situation causing stress, or are you worried about what the future holds for you or your family?
