Man accused of assault at nightclub ‘taking the you know what’, fumes judge

A judge has told a court how a man accused of assaulting a man and producing a knife at a Mullingar nightclub is “taking the you know what” after he failed to show up to court for the second time in almost as many months.

Lucasz Dybich, of The Close, Lakepoint, Mullingar, Westmeath, had been due to attend Mullingar District Court last Thursday to face three charges from an incident at Mojos Nightclub, Dominick Place, Mullingar, Westmeath on February 14, 2022.

Mr Dybich was charged with assault causing harm to a man, knife possession and production of a knife.

The accused had also been on strict bail conditions, including a weekly signing on order and directions to stay away from his alleged victim and the nightclub.

When his name was called by the court registrar, defence solicitor Louis Kiernan confirmed his client was not present.

As she glanced at the charge sheets in front of her, Judge Bernadette Owens noted that a previous bench warrant had been executed on Mr Dybich on December 11.

“He (Mr Dybich) is taking the you know what,” she angrily told Mr Kiernan over the 34-year-old’s no show.

Asked by Judge Owens what the view of the state prosecution was, Sgt Sheila Kenny applied for and was granted a bench warrant for the arrest of Mr Dybich.
