Three additional disabled parking bays for Kinnegad
Kinnegad will get a number of new disabled parking bays in the coming months. The details of the spaces reserved for vehicles displaying a valid disabled person’s parking permit were given at the January meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.
Cllr Denis Leonard asked if the Municipal District would look at putting in three disabled spaces on the main street of Kinnegad and in Cluan Craobh estate at locations previously identified to the district.
The MD executive said they will arrange for disabled space parking locations in Kinnegad in the first quarter of 2026.
In a further question to the authority, Cllr Leonard said he was actively seek traffic calming and signage along the L1801 through Walshestown from the Ballymahon Road on to the St Finian’s, Lough Owel Road, which he described as “experiencing high traffic volumes and excessive speeds”.
In their reply the executive said the L1801 between the R392 and Irishtown has adequate signage and road markings in line with the local road requirements legislation, but said the MD can install ‘slow’ road markings along some straight sections where speeding may occur.
