Mullingar Gardening Club supporting TEAM
At their annual flower arranging demo and buffet supper in the Park Hotel, Mullingar and District Gardening Club members and guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of entertainment.
The floral artist chosen for this event was Theresa Nixon, who showed those present how to create both modern and traditional arrangements. They included small decorative indoor wreaths in silver and gold with a simple stylish ribbon mechanism for hanging. She said they would suit a more modern home décor and area a current trend.
Also created were several more traditional and contemporary arrangements, using a variety of beautiful flowers and foliage, which delighted her audience.
Theresa gave many tips so that members making flower arrangements at home would get long life out of each piece. Theresa’s friendly and entertaining tales kept her audience captivated while being effortlessly educated in the floral arts.
After a delicious hot buffet supper, Theresa’s works, along with other prizes, were raffled. As everyone wanted to take home a floral creation, such was the demand for tickets that the raffle earned €350.
As its chosen charity for the year the club has donated the proceeds of the raffle to TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands) to support its vital work with women and children in times of need.
The club resume activity after the winter break with the annual general meeting and quiz on a changed day and date, now Friday March 20 in Mullingar Bridge and Amenity Centre at 8pm. Monthly club meetings this season will be held on the third Friday of the month, and new members are always welcome.
