Man pronounced deceased following incident in Mullingar

Gardaí received a report from a concerned member of the public for the welfare of a male (30s) who was acting in a distressed manner in Mullingar, on Saturday, 28 March.

Gardaí attended the scene of the incident, where the man subsequently became unwell.

He was taken by ambulance to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar, where he was pronounced deceased.

As required under Section 203 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act, 2024 this matter has been referred to Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman.

As this matter is being investigated by Fiosrú, An Garda Síochána is not in a position to comment further.
