New McDonald's in Mullingar due to open on May 6

Newest Irish McDonald’s restaurant to open in Mullingar, signalling a €3.8 million investment and the creation of 120 new jobs

McDonald’s has announced that its newest Irish restaurant will open in Mullingar on May 6, creating 120 new jobs as part of a €3.8 million investment.

Located in Lakepoint Retail Park, the restaurant will initially employ 120 people full- and part-time crew, as well as mid-level and senior management.

The new development comprises a 415 square metre drive-through restaurant, 35 car parking spaces, bicycle parking and an outdoor seating area, as well as EV charging bays.

As with all McDonald’s restaurants in Ireland, 100% of the beef, bacon, milk, water and eggs served in the new Mullingar restaurant will be sourced from Irish suppliers.

The opening forms part of a McDonald’s growth strategy, following the company’s recent announcement of plans to open 25 new restaurants in Ireland over the next five years, representing an investment of approximately €150 million.

McDonald’s franchisee Seamus Rawle, who also operates the existing Mullingar restaurant, as well as outlets in Athlone, Longford and Cavan, said: “Opening this new restaurant in Mullingar means a lot to us. We’re genuinely delighted to be investing in the town and, most importantly, creating new opportunities for people locally.

“Mullingar has always been a fantastic community to be a part of, and this new restaurant is another step in our ongoing commitment to the area. As McDonald’s continues to grow across Ireland, it’s great to see Mullingar right at the heart of that progress.”
