Best Themed Float first prize – Gaffney’s Bar and Lounge.

Gaffney’s lead The Field at Delvin awards

Gaffney’s Bar and Lounge took the first place award, as well as a €500 cash prize for Best Themed Float at this year’s St Patrick’s Parade awards event in Delvin.

The presentation of the awards took place on Saturday March 28, at the Camán Inn, Delvin, where winners were awarded their prize alongside the other entrants.

The theme of the parade this year was ‘Movies and TV Shows of the past and present’, and the trophies were created by Eddies Glass Art. First place winner Gaffney’s Bar and Lounge had teamed up with Delvin Valley Drama Group, showing their performance of ‘The Field’.

Other prizes were for best business float, best sporting float, best window display and many more (list below).

A raffle was held on the night, and live music was performed by musician Real Steel.

The winners of the main raffle and fundraiser draw were Martina Gaffney, Caitlin Cleary, Dermot Glennon, Keith Nolan, Bernie Fox and 1st prize winner was Maureen McGowan.

Cllr David Jones, chairman of the Delvin parade committee, had expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped make the parade and awards night such a success. He said: “A massive thank you to the volunteers and committee members who worked extremely hard, it was a fantastic night in the Camán Inn.”

Cllr Jones added: “Delvin parade is always looking for new committee members, so if anyone would like to join, please get in contact.”
