HSE Dublin and Midlands Region announces first regional director for health and social care professions
Ellen O’Dea has been appointed as regional director for health and social care professions (HSCP) in the Dublin and Midlands Region.
Her appointment, effective on 13 April, is being marked today, Wednesday, as part of HSCP Day, a national recognition of the contribution made by health and social care professions across Ireland.
Ellen stated: "I am delighted to take on this role at such an important time for health and social care. Health and social care professionals play a critical role in supporting people to live healthier lives, and I look forward to working with teams across the region to enhance integrated care, shaping the development of the region to meet future service needs and ensure the best possible outcomes for our communities."
Ellen brings extensive leadership experience and a strong track record of advancing integrated, person centred care. Prior to taking up this new role, she served as head of service for Health and Wellbeing in Dublin North City and County, where she led the delivery of integrated health and wellbeing services with emphasis on prevention, early detection, chronic disease management, and embedding health and wellbeing across clinical pathways.

A qualified occupational therapist, Ellen has practiced in acute and community settings in Ireland, the UK, and Australia.
Her senior management career within the HSE includes roles including occupational therapy manager, primary care manager, and general manager for primary care and disability services.
