Lakepoint residents seek extension of Mullingar bike scheme

Plans to potentially extend the Mullingar town bike rental scheme to Lakepoint are to be explored following a request from residents.

At a meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District, Cllr Aoife Davitt asked the council to engage with the Lakepoint Residents Association, who have expressed interest in having the scheme expanded to their area.

In response, the council’s environment section said they welcome engagement with the group and are open to considering Lakepoint as a designated set-down point within the County Bike Rental Scheme.

Officials have invited representatives of the residents association to make direct contact to discuss their proposal and provide feedback on the scheme.

Cllr Davitt said the development would be well received locally.

“The residents association might be delighted,” she said, adding that an extension of the scheme is something they had been hoping for.
