Approval for community room facility at Westmeath GAA club
Castletown Finea Coole Whitehall GAA Club have been granted permission to progress with the construction of a 37sqm extension to the north of their existing dressing rooms to accommodate a community room facility.
The existing building is single-storey. There is a mature hedgerow to the rear of the building and Naomh Michael National School is to the east of the site.
The club play an important role in supporting sporting, social, and community activities in the locality.
At present, the club dos not have any suitable indoor facilities capable of accommodating meetings, community events, youth activities, or social gatherings.
Westmeath County Council planners granted approval subject to seven conditions. They are that the extension is undertaken in accordance with the plans submitted, that the external finishes of the proposed extension are consistent with those of the existing building, that the services are in keeping with the existing services, a number of water and wastewater considerations, and that works are carried out only between 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday, and between 9am and 2pm on Saturday.
The application was made at the end of last February and the planners advised of their decision last Tuesday, April 21.
