The death has occurred of

Esther Ledwith

Ferbranagh, Multyfarnham, Westmeath, May 5, 2026, peacefully after a short illness, at her home with her loving family by her side. Pre-deceased by her parents Ellen and Tim and her sister Ann. Esther will be sadly missed by her partner Jim, son Clive, daughter Rowena, her cherished and adored grandchildren Freya and Dara, daughter-in-law Pamela, son-in-law Silvano, brothers Sean, Patrick, James and Ben, sister Marie, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May Esther's gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Shaw's Funeral Home, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 5pm until 7pm. A private family cremation will take place on Thursday. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired to the Irish Cancer Society.

The death has occurred of

Evelyn (Eva) Monaghan (née O'Neill)

Rathmines, Dublin and formerly of Mullingar, Westmeath, May 3, 2026 peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the exceptional and wonderful care of Marymount Care Centre, Westmanstown.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Paddy and cherished baby son Anthony, and much loved mother of Michael, Vincent, Tom, and Goretti. Sadly missed by her loving sons, daughter, grandchildren Conall, Róisín, Frankie, Shannon, Conor, Sean, Eileen, Anthony, Noel, and Colin, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Marymount Care Centre, Westmanstown, Lucan on Wednesday evening, May 6, from 5pm to 7pm. Removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Celbridge on Thursday morning, May 7, arriving for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery, St. Patrick's section.

The death has occurred of

Ian Murphy

Finchley, London and formerly Winetown, Rathowen, Westmeath, April 16, 2026, following an illness courageously borne. Dearly beloved father of Aoife, loving son of Florrie and the late Victor, and much loved brother of Ada, Gillian and Sammy. Fond brother-in-law of Stuart, Sinead and the late Robert, and uncle of Theo, Paul, Sam, Alison and Emma. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his daughter, mother, brother, sisters, relatives and friends.

Funeral service in St Marylebone Crematorium in East Finchley, London on May 20, at 4pm, to be followed at a later date by interment of his ashes in Corboy Presbyterian Church, Edgeworthstown, Longford.

The death has occurred of

John O’ Rourke

Fresh Meadows, New York, and formerly of Killucan, Westmeath, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, surrounded by his wife Assumpta (née McEvoy), son Matthew and daughter Jennifer.

For years, John fought a long, tough battle with cancer, but his positive mindset and radiant smile never failed to carry him each day. He is reunited with his parents, Laurence and Rita (Curley) O’Rourke, and brother Joseph.

He is lovingly remembered by his sisters Ita and Anne, brothers; Hughie, James, Tony, Larry, & Tom, sisters-in-law; Loretta, Elaine, Celine, Cristina, Teresa, Kathleen, Margaret, Josephine, & Marie, brothers-in-law; Martin, Declan, Gerard & Patrick, his mother-in-law Josie, and also his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Boyd’s Funeral Home, Birr, Offaly, on Friday, May 8, from 5pm to 7pm.

Removal on Saturday, May 9, from Boyd’s Funeral Home to St James’s Church, Eglish for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery. Family flowers only; donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Little Sisters of the Poor in remembrance of John.
