Open auditions for Mullingar production of comedy 'Rumours'
Open auditions for an upcoming play at Mullingar Arts Centre are aimed at anyone who has an interest in acting and theatre.
The play is the comedy, Rumours, and it’s directed by Daniel Egerton. What’s in store is laughter, chaos, and plenty of dramatic confusion, and that could be just when the auditions take place at the arts centre on Wednesday May 20 (7.30pm)!
Little Brother productions are inviting people of all ages to go along and take part, whether experienced performers or newcomers to the stage.
It’s an opportunity for local talent to get involved in what promises to be a hugely entertaining production.
The play centres on a disastrous anniversary party hosted by New York deputy mayor Charley Brock and his wife Myra. What begins as an elegant evening quickly spirals into chaos when guests arrive to discover that the kitchen staff have vanished, Myra is missing, and Charley appears to have shot himself, although not quite successfully.
As more guests arrive, there are misunderstandings, rumours, cover-ups, and increasingly outrageous lies begin to unfold.
From suspicious affairs and bizarre accidents to gunshots and frantic attempts to fool the police, the evening descends into hilarious mayhem.
By the end, the characters are tangled in an absurd web of confusion that keeps audiences laughing till the final curtain.
The production has strong comedic roles, lively ensemble scenes, and an energetic rehearsal experience for performers of all backgrounds and ages.
Anyone interested in auditioning is encouraged to attend on the night – what’s required are enthusiasm, a willingness to have fun, and a love of live theatre.
Auditions begin at 7.30pm sharp at Mullingar Arts Centre on Wednesday May 20.
