Fascinating antiques among lots for next Usher auction
Ushers Auction Rooms are hosting an auction featuring some incredible antiques guaranteed to pique any history buff’s interest, on Monday 25 of May.
There are more than 1300 lots of interesting, unique and collectible items from clearances in Westmeath, Meath and Dublin.
Some of the most interesting pieces on offer are American presidential correspondences from the 1960s that include those of John F Kennedy, Dwight Eisenhower and Lyndon B Johnson.
There is also correspondence from various senators, vice-presidents, governors, signed portrait photographs and a letter from Robert Kennedy while he served as attorney general.
Another interesting one is a letter from the famous sculptor Fred M Torrey to Judge Walter Beale.
It’s a great collection and well worth viewing.
The correspondences are not the only antiques on offer, however – there is also Irish and English silver, rare coins, high quality carpets and rugs.
There will be mirrors, and a large selection of garden furniture that includes cut stone troughs.
There are antiquarian hunting books and artworks, Georgian and Victorian furniture, Waterford glassware, dinner and tea sets, Irish sponge ware, and Irish whiskeys.
Notable Irish artworks available include the work of Kenneth Webb, designer light fittings, tapestries, religious artefacts from South Hill House in Delvin, model ships, and much more.
The auctioneers are also waiting on a 1964 Massey Ferguson 65 to come in.
Viewing times ahead of the auction will be taking place from May 18 up to the day of the sale.
