Happiness in Nature
Rotary Young Writer Intermediate Competition 2026 winner, by Alexander Johnston Molloy, All Saints NS
Many creatures,
With different features.
Many a beast,
Enjoying a feast.
Gather by the wood today.
A little white fox,
With his little white socks.
And a small brown snail,
With his brown chain mail.
Play by the wood today.
Lots of green frogs,
Sitting on logs.
And slim yellow newts,
Gorging on fruits.
Bask by the stream today.
The massive green pike,
Who is no small tyke.
And the naughty black
mink,
Who kicks up a stink.
Hunt in the lake today.
The tough mountain goat,
With his warm woolly coat.
And the proud stag deer,
Who makes everyone
cheer.
Hike in the hills
today.
There is no money you can
pay,
To see the nature, I
mentioned today.
And then you’ll realise,
To your surprise,
You have found,
Happiness in nature.
