Man suffers ‘life-changing limb injury’ in Newtownards crash in Co Down

A man aged in his 30s has suffered a “life-changing limb injury” in a crash in Co Down.

The incident took place at Castlebawn Retail Park in Newtownards at around 1:20pm on Saturday.

Police said the man was reported to have been struck by a blue Skoda Octavia and appealed for information.

“Officers attended the scene of a collision at Castlebawn Retail Park at around 1:20pm, after a pedestrian was reported to have been struck by a blue Skoda Octavia,” said local policing Sergeant Young.

“A white Vauxhall Astra parked nearby also sustained damage.

“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance attended and the pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a life-changing limb injury.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly those who may have dash-cam or other footage, to contact police on 101, quoting reference 764 of 23/05/26.
