The Valley Drama Society invites community to AGM
The ever-growing and energetic Valley Drama Society is preparing to open its doors once again for its Annual General Meeting today, Wednesday, May 27, in Mary Gaffney’s Drama Lounge, Delvin, County Westmeath.
Since its establishment in 2023, the group has gone from strength to strength, building confidence, creativity, and a wonderful sense of community spirit along the way. With increasing membership numbers and continued support from the local community, the society has enjoyed a particularly exciting and successful year on stage.
Among the highlights was The Bits and Pieces Show, directed by Mick Roban, which was staged in Mary Gaffney’s Drama Lounge and proved to be a fantastic fundraising success. The production helped support the staging of Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel, directed by Patricia Ronayne and staged by Colette Lynch, bringing one of Ireland’s most beloved dark plays to local audiences in memorable fashion and help raise funds for #thefriendsoftullamorehospital.
The AGM will offer members and the wider community an opportunity to discuss the future of the society in an open and welcoming environment. Attendees are encouraged to come along, share ideas, make suggestions, and help shape the next chapter for the thriving drama group.
Looking ahead, plans are already underway for an exciting Christmas production, with rehearsals set to begin earlier this August. While the committee are keeping details tightly under wraps for now, they have hinted that audiences can expect plenty of festive fun and laughter.
As one committee member teasingly put it:
“Oh no, she didn’t!”
“Oh yes, she did!”
The Valley Drama Society welcomes all interested members of the public to attend the AGM and become part of the growing creative community that continues to light up our beautiful stage in Delvin.
