Third British winner for Chloe Lyons

Mullingar jockey jockey Chloe Lyons record a great victory on 12/1 outsider Rhythm N Rock at Kempton Park on Wednesday afternoon.

It represents another career milestone for the talented sports woman, who led home the winner for trainer John Butler. Chloe said she was delighted, firstly, to get the call and thrilled to record her third winner on British soil.

It comes after she steered home a 11/1 outsider at Newmarket the previous week. That was Chloe’s second win on British soil after another long shot, the 12/1 Grand Duchess Olga, was first past the post in Wolverhampton in April of last year.

Chloe moved to Britain in her late teens and progressed through stints with Mike Murphy and Michael Keady, followed by TJ Kent in Newmarket, before joining Julia and Shelley Birkett. She joined Stuart Williams in February.

Warm conditions on Kempton's all-weather track were demanding for all jockeys and it was Chloe who excelled. “It's great to get recognised and to be given the opportunity to ride this horse. Kempton done a great job with the track in the hot weather. It was great to come back with a winners, this was my first ride since I won at Newmarket,” she said.

“Stuart has a couple of horses lined up for next week and I’m looking forward to those.” Chloe’s proud mum, Loren Crowley, said her daughter is thrilled with the latest victory and is pursuing the career she always wanted.

“She loves it. When she was a child, her granddad, John Lyons, would be watching the race and she’d sit there and she’d watch the racing. At the time, she was pony riding and show jumping. That’s what she did until the age of 14,” she said.

Chloe’s dad, Stephen Lyons, has played a significant part by nurturing her love of the sport. Chloe moved to Britain in her late teens and progressed through stints with Mike Murphy and Michael Keady, followed by TJ Kent in Newmarket, before joining Julia and Shelley Birkett.
