Packed programme of music and drama at Mullingar Arts Centre

Mullingar Arts Centre is preparing for a busy late summer season with a varied programme of music, theatre and family entertainment that promises to appeal to audiences of all ages.

The line-up includes tribute concerts, award-winning drama, youth theatre productions and a celebration of traditional Irish music, ensuring there is something for every taste over the coming weeks.

Music lovers can look forward to Glory Days, the Bruce Springsteen Tribute on Friday, July 25, when Ireland’s premier Bruce Springsteen tribute band takes to the stage. The six-piece group recreates the sound and energy of Springsteen and the legendary E Street Band, performing many of the singer’s best-known hits, including classics from Born to Run, Born in the U.S.A. and Darkness on the Edge of Town. The show has earned strong reviews around the country for its faithful recreation of Springsteen’s live performances.

Drama returns to the Arts Centre from July 31 to August 2 with The Wolves, presented by Little Brother Productions. Directed by Alannah Lawless-Looby, the acclaimed play follows an American girls’ indoor football team as they navigate the challenges of adolescence, friendship and identity while preparing for matches. The production has received widespread praise for its honest and engaging portrayal of teenage life.

Young music fans will have the chance to experience Taylor Fever on Friday, August 22. The tribute show celebrates the music of global superstar Taylor Swift, featuring many of her biggest chart hits alongside energetic choreography and impressive stage production. Following previous sell-out performances in Mullingar, organisers expect another strong demand for tickets, with a post-show meet-and-greet also planned.

Local talent will take centre stage later in the month when Mullingar Junior Stage School presents Alice in Wonderland JR on August 26, 27 and 29. Based on Disney’s popular adaptation of the classic tale, the production follows Alice’s adventures through Wonderland, featuring colourful characters, familiar songs and plenty of opportunities for the school’s young performers to showcase their talents.

Traditional Irish music will be celebrated on August 28 during A Celebration of Elite Musical Talent, presented by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. The concert forms part of celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the organisation in Mullingar and will feature performances from the Ox Mountain Quartet, Grúpa Naomh Odhrán and a host of accomplished musicians, singers and dancers from Westmeath CCÉ.

The season concludes with The Unexpected Guest, presented by Mullingar Student Players from September 3 to 5. Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery begins with the discovery of a body in a secluded Welsh manor and unfolds into a gripping tale of hidden motives, family secrets and unexpected twists.

With its diverse programme of live entertainment, Mullingar Arts Centre continues to provide a platform for both local performers and touring productions while offering audiences a wide selection of cultural events throughout the year.
