Lily Allen's life and career to be subject of feature-length documentary

Prime Video is to release a feature-length documentary about English singer and actor Lily Allen after the success of her 2025 album West End Girl.

The retrospective film will chart the singer’s journey from being the “Queen of MySpace” during her rise to fame to her life and career today.

The documentary, which will feature interviews with people close to the 41-year-old, will be directed by Mat Whitecross and launch on Prime Video in 2027.

Allen, the daughter of Welsh actor and comedian Keith Allen, recorded a demo as a teenager and signed with London Records in 2002, but left the label without releasing any music.

She signed with Regal Recordings in 2005 and created an account on MySpace where she posted her demos and attracted thousands of listeners.

Her debut album Alright, Still was released in July 2006 and featured the number one single, Smile.

She followed this up with It’s Not Me, It’s You (2008), Sheezus (2014), and No Shame (2018).

The star also branched out into acting and made her West End debut in the play, 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2021.

Allen is the mother of daughters Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 12, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper, whom she divorced in 2018.

She married Stranger Things actor David Harbour in September 2020 after a year of dating.

They separated in 2025 and Allen’s album West End Girl details the breakdown of their relationship and his alleged infidelity.

Harbour previously said the contents of the record “wasn’t my experience”.

Speaking to Variety, he said: “It was weird. I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.”

“I can’t really say that much more because it’s my private life.”
