Woodie's stores in Westmeath back annual charity campaign
Staff at the Woodie’s stores in Mullingar and Athlone are rallying behind the retailer’s annual Woodie’s Heroes fundraising campaign, which aims to raise funds for four children’s charities across Ireland.
Now in its 12th year, the campaign has raised more than €4.7 million for children’s charities since it began in 2015, thanks to the support of customers, colleagues and suppliers nationwide.
This year’s beneficiaries are Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, ISPCC Childline, Down Syndrome Ireland and Cancer Fund for Children, and 100% of all donations will be divided equally between the four organisations.
Running until August 9, the campaign gives customers the opportunity to donate at the till in any Woodie’s store or online through the Woodie’s Heroes iDonate page.
The charities supported each year are chosen by Woodie’s colleagues, ensuring the campaign reflects causes that are important to local staff and the communities they serve.
Damien Dwyer, CEO of Woodie’s, said the campaign continues to make a real difference to children and families facing significant challenges.
"For over a decade, Woodie’s Heroes has brought together our colleagues, customers and suppliers to support children, young people and families facing some of life’s toughest challenges," he said.
"We are proud to support the work of these four incredible charities and would encourage our customers and communities to get behind Woodie’s Heroes 2026 and help us continue making a real difference."
Funds raised this year will help provide assistance dog training and family support programmes, Childline’s confidential listening service, early-years speech and language supports for children with Down syndrome, and emotional and therapeutic services for children and young people affected by cancer and their families.
Customers wishing to support the appeal can make a donation in the Mullingar or Athlone Woodie’s stores before August 9.
