Bohemians' and Shelbourne's European adventures end

Bohemians are out of Europe's Conference League.

Alan Reynolds' side started the second leg 2-0 behind against Midtjylland in Denmark in the third qualifying round.

The Dublin club had two goals disallowed before conceding a penalty in the first half, which finished 1-0 to the Danes.

Within two minutes of the restart, Midtjylland had scored again.

While Bohs substitute Zane Myers pulled one back in the 62nd minute, the Danes scored another in the 78th minute.

An 88th-minute goal by Dayle Rooney wasn't enough to save the game, which finished 3-2 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate to Midtjylland.

Shelbourne have also been knocked out of the Conference League.

Shelbourne had suffered a 3-1 first-leg loss to Ajax in Amsterdam, but twice fought back from going behind at Tolka Park to earn a credible 2-2 draw after Evan Caffrey’s 24th-minute effort was followed by Sean Moore’s long-range leveller with five minutes left.

Shamrock Rovers saw their hopes of reaching the Europa League play-offs ended after slumping to a 5-1 defeat away to Albanian side Egnatia Rrogozhine.

Rovers had been defending a 3-1 lead from the first leg in Tallaght, but that advantage was soon wiped out after early goals from Daniel Adjessa, Alessandro Albanese and Ildi Gruda inside 20 minutes.

Adjessa struck again just ahead of the break, with Egnatia seeing defender Edison Ndreca sent off for a second caution in first-half stoppage time. Albanese ended the slim chances of a comeback when he slotted in a fifth goal for the hosts on the hour.

Graham Burke struck a late consolation for Rovers, who now drop into the Conference League play-off round and will play Finnish club KuPS.
