Junior performers invite audiences on adventure to wonderland
Mullingar Arts Centre are preparing to take audiences on an adventure into wonderland this week, when they perform Alice in Wonderland Junior as part of their summer programme.
The cast are young performers who attend the Junior Stage School in Mullingar and some centres of the Rural Stage School, including Rathwire, Rochfortbridge and Abbeylara, from Athlone and even from as far away as Carrick-on-Shannon.
The creative team for the production includes Claire Rabbitt as musical director, Linda Moore as choreographer and Sarah Nally as director. Sean Lynch is working on the lighting, and arts centre staff are involved in set design and props. Angelica de Barra is in charge of costumes and Claire is also working on props.
Sarah said: “The young people involved are incredible – they’re between as young as 10 and 13 years of age and they’ve worked so hard for the month of months of July and August, and they can’t wait to share their creation with their family and friends and local community.
“We are really looking forward to showcasing the talent that we have here in the arts centre and in our stage schools.
“Everybody will know the story of Alice in Wonderland. It’s fun, it’s quirky, it’s tap-along. The songs are fantastic and the choreography is stunning, so it’s going to be a great few days, and we can’t wait to have an audience in to see us and our adventure in Wonderland.”
Shows are on August 26, 27 and 29 at 7pm. Tickets are available online at mullingarartcentre.ie, by calling 044 934 7777, or by calling to the centre to purchase them.
