Westmeath trio chosen on Team of the Championship
Three Westmeath players have been selected on the LGFA TG4 Intermediate Team of the Championship.
Anna Jones gets the nod at midfield and she is joined by forwards Lucy McCartan and Sarah Dillon, with the team having been revealed today (Wednesday).
TUS Midlands student Dillon is a key player for Milltown, Jones plays her club football with Mullingar Shamrocks and McCartan is with fellow Mullingar outfit, St Loman's.
Westmeath reached this year's All-Ireland intermediate semi-finals where they lost out to eventual champions Roscommon, who have six players named on the team, including Áine Connaughton (Clann na nGael) and Abby Curran (St Brigid's).
The remainder of the team is made up of players from All-Ireland finalists Fermanagh (four) and Down (two).
Westmeath LGFA is currently seeking a new manager for its flagship team following the decision of Frank Browne to step down after three years in charge.
The Team of the Championship was selected by members of the LGFA’s All-Star committee, and the winners will receive their awards at a Croke Park function on Friday, October 9.
