Raharney meet Lough Lene Gaels in senior semi-final
Westmeath Camogie Roundup
Round four of the club camogie championships takes place at the weekend.
In the David Smyth Catering Senior Championship, the battle for the final place comes down to the meeting of Lough Lene Gaels and Raharney.
The Collinstown and Joristown sides have sixty minutes to find a way into the decider against defending champions Clonkill. Raharney will be hoping to get back to the final to have the chance to spin the result from last season which saw them beaten by a late Lucy Power point. The Gaels, in contrast, have consistently shown they are worth challengers but just need that bit of luck to make the showcase game.
In the TUS Midlands Intermediate, the same applies to St Munnas and Castlepollard as they look to cement a place in the final against Crookedwood. Pollard are hoping to add to their league silverware earlier in the year by lifting the new Pauline Leonard Memorial Cup. The challenge of St Munnas will be tough, with the Turin outfit boasting top scorer Olivia Glynn in their ranks.
In the relegation stakes, Castletown-Geoghegan and Drumraney will fight the neighbourly battle to see who remains in the top tier for 2027. In Intermediate, St Brigid’s and Cullion are looking to do the same. Cullion will be hoping to stay in the new grade having won junior in 2025.
U14 AND U16 FINALS
Good luck to all sides taking part in the U14 and U16 finals this week. It is amazing to see all the sides involved and having the chance to celebrate brilliant seasons with the finals. Thank you to all clubs for hosting the games also.
BEHAVIOUR
Westmeath Camogie wishes to make all supporters, management, and players aware of their behaviour during games. With a noted increase in reports of abusive and aggressive language towards officials and opposition players, it is imperative that ALL clubs ensure their attitude and behaviour is exemplary during games. Language and words impact others, while also bringing negativity on clubs and the county as a whole. Please show the same respect to others that you would expect them to give you.
