Disabled parking bay to be installed on Dominick Street
Disabled parking bay to be installed on Dominick Street
A new disabled parking bay is to be installed at the western end of Dominick Street in Mullingar within the next four weeks.
The work follows a request from Cllr Bill Collentine (right) at the September meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District.
Cllr Collentine asked the district to look at the possibility of providing disabled parking at that location.
The District Office has confirmed that a road lining contractor has been instructed to install the disabled parking bay, and the work should be completed within the next four weeks.
Cllr Collentine also raised concerns about the condition of the ramp between Ashe Road and Grand Parade, saying it was currently too high and was in need of upkeep.
The District Office said an assessment of the ramps at the location would be carried out to determine whether any remedial works were necessary.
Resurfacing of a short section of road at the roundabout on Lynn Road, close to Gaelscoil an Choillín, is to be considered. Cllr Collentine had asked the district to replace the anti-skid surface on the roundabout.
The District Office said resurfacing of the short section would be considered as part of the current works programme, subject to the availability of funding.
Pedestrian crossings
Cllr Collentine also asked that the district look into updating pedestrian crossings and was informed that the District Office has received funding of €300,000 from the National Transport Authority to conduct upgrades on a number of existing pedestrian crossings and school warning signs throughout the district.
