Raharney playground funding decision awaited
Funding arrangements are expected to be confirmed for a new playground for Raharney in November, Cllr David Jones was informed at the September meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, when he asked for an update on progress.
The district stated that Westmeath County Council had submitted a Clár application for the construction of a new playground in Raharney in July 2026.
"The transfer of the land to Westmeath County Council is progressing, and a designer for the playground is to be appointed under the Clár Programme Development Measure," the response concluded.
Pavements
At the same meeting, Cllr Jones was informed that the sum of €300,000 has been allocated by Transport Infrastructure Ireland for emergency pavement repairs in areas of the N52.
"The District Office has advised that they have received €300,000 funding from TII for emergency pavement repairs. The sections included are: 1. Delvin Village N52; 2. Repairs between Caddagh Cross to Ballinacor close to Billistown on the N52; 3. Funding to the amount of €95,000 is also approved by TII for surfacing the N52 at Robinstown Little," the reply stated.
Finea
Cllr Jones asked that the district allocate funding to enhance the footpaths in Finea. "The District Office has advised that footpath improvement works in Finea will be considered for funding under the 2027 works Estimates," the response stated.
