Olga from the ‘Broken Theatre’ group.Samhain 2026 was one of the most ambitious Halloween events to date at Belvedere House and Gardens and the organisers and participants are “thrilled with how the weekend unfolded”.
Liam Glynn, events and marketing coordinator at Belvedere, said: “Visitors from across Ireland and even abroad who passed through the gates of Belvedere enjoyed a unique mix of Halloween fun, live circus entertainment, spectacular fire performances, and the beautiful setting of Belvedere.”
What stood out most was the positive feedback from families who made lasting memories together over the weekend, he said.
“We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who supported the event, particularly Fáilte Ireland, Westmeath County Council and Longford County Council, our staff, volunteers, performers, and food vendors.
“The success of Samhain highlights the growing appetite for high-quality family events in the midlands, and we look forward to continuing to develop the festival in the years to come.”
Making the point that events of this scale do not happen overnight, Liam said they require months of planning, coordination, and collaboration with performers, suppliers, traders, staff, and volunteers, and inevitably there can be challenges along the way.
“The most significant challenge we faced this year was the severe weather on Saturday, which resulted in the difficult decision to postpone our Samhain After Dark event.
“It was not a decision we took lightly, but the safety of our visitors, performers, staff, and contractors had to remain our absolute priority.
“While it was disappointing at the time, we were delighted to see so many guests return on Sunday to enjoy the experience,” said Liam.
“Looking ahead, my ambition is to continue developing Belvedere as one of the leading event destinations for families and visitors in the midlands.
“We have a unique venue, and I believe there is enormous potential to create memorable experiences that bring people together and showcase everything Belvedere has to offer.”
