Moat Tidy Towns volunteers were in action last weekend

Westmeath Tidy Towns teams ramp up for judging

From next Saturday the Tidy Towns judges will commence visiting over 900 communities across the country to select Ireland's tidiest town.

The competition has been on the go since 1958 and is now administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development, and sponsored by Supervalu.

Members of Moat Tidy towns were putting in some last minute preparations last weekend in a bid to impress the judges with all the fine work they have been undertaking over the last year.

This year marks the 67th year of the competition that sees over 30,000 volunteers giving up over one million hours of their time, all year round, to come together to make our communities cleaner, brighter and more vibrant places.
