League of Ireland: Shamrock Rovers maintain 9-point lead after beating Cork City

Shamrock Rovers have maintained their nine-point lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Friday evening.

The Hoops came out on top with a scoreline of 4-1 against Cork City at Tallaght Stadium.

Michael Noonan scored twice, including a goal early on in the sixth minute, with Roberto Lopes and Rory Gaffney joining him on the scoresheet.

Alex Noonan got a goal back for Cork City in the 69th minute.

Elsewhere, Waterford have beaten Bohemians by a goal.

Two goals in quick succession at the end of the first half helped the victory, with Pádraig Amond converting a penalty and Coonan Noonan scoring mere minutes afterwards.

Dawson Devoy got a goal back for the Bohs in the 71st minute, but the score ended 2-1 in Waterford's favour.

Drogheda United have come out on top against Sligo Rovers. A goal in the third minute from Douglas James-Taylor proved to be enough.

Galway United secured an impressive win 3-1 over St Patrick's Atheltic.

Edward McCarthy set the tone for the game with a goal in the second minute, with David Hurley and Robert Slevin both joining him on the scoresheet in the first half.

Simon Power scored St Pat's only goal.

Derry City's Michael Duffy scored the only goal in their 1-0 win against Shelbourne.
