Community to rally behind local family at special fundraiser in Athboy

A special Family Fun Day fundraiser will take place at Mellowes Adventure and Childcare Centre in Athboy, Co. Meath, on Sunday, 27th July 2025, in memory of Michelle Bagnall and in support of her husband Oliver and their four young children.

Michelle Bagnall, a devoted mother, tragically passed away from an aggressive form of brain cancer earlier this year. She leaves behind baby Nico, now seven months old; twins Lucas and Elijah, aged four; and their older brother Joseph, aged ten. Michelle’s sudden death has left a profound impact on her family and all who knew her. Her husband Oliver has since become a full-time carer to their children, and as a result, has been unable to continue his self-employed work.

The event, organised by the Mellowes adventure & childcare centre team, aims to raise €15,000 to help support the Bagnall family through this difficult time.

The Family Fun Day will be split into two sessions: from 11am to 2pm, and again from 3pm to 6pm. The packed schedule includes live performances from Matt Leavy, Tina Lynagh & Twist of Fate, and Brian Mullen Music. There is fun for all the family planned including bouncy castles and numerous other activities.

The event is already receiving support from a number of generous local businesses and the organisers hope even more local companies, community groups, and individuals will join in to support the cause.

Tickets are now on sale at Mellowes Adventure and Childcare Centre, priced at €10 for adults and €20 for children. Donations can also be made via the GoFundMe page: Mellowes Family Fun Day Fundraiser.

Organisers are encouraging all members of the community to get involved – whether by attending the event, spreading the word, donating, or contributing prizes. Every gesture, big or small, will help bring the Bagnall family closer to stability and healing.
