Kinnegad Women’s Shed make charity donations
Before their summer break, Kinnegad Women’s Shed made donations to local charities totalling €3,500.
The Shed is open to women over 18 to enjoy activities such as coffee and chats, arts and crafts, games nights and flower arrangements.
Laura Walsh said: “We welcome everyone, and have a constitution in place that’s been voted on by all members. There’s an annual registration fee and a non-membership fee.”
The Kinnegad Women’s Shed often organise activities for the community, and members carry out fundraising drives. The committee recently undertook a trip to Multyfarnham where they presented the Westmeath Alzheimer’s Society with a cheque for €3,000. “This was money we raised from a fundraiser coffee morning held at Serenity House Kinnegad, on May 16 last,” Laura said. Included in that donation was €700 raised by Noel Kelly, his committee in Gainstown and members of the Milltownpass and Castlejordan card players group who organised a Progressive 25 evening.
More recently the Kinnegad Women’s Shed teamed up with the Raharney Women’s Shed to make a combined donation of €500 to the Caterpillar class of St Etchen’s National School in Kinnegad.
The group meet every Monday 7-9.30pm at Serenity House in Kinnegad, and return in September after their Summer break.
