Midlands Donegal supporters look forward to all-Ireland senior final day at Croke Park
Members of the Mullingar Donegal Association are in high spirits this week as their county footballers prepare for the All-Ireland final on Sunday.
They have a substantial contribution to the Donegal players fund, and are changing their name to Cumann Lár-Tíre Dhún na nGall.
A member of the group said the name change was prompted by the huge interest from the counties adjoining Westmeath, particularly since their first successful outing in then Greville Arms in March. The Facebook page has changed accordingly.
“With an all-Ireland final pending, there is huge excitement in the camp, and whatever the outcome against Kerry, there will be a celebration in the days following to acknowledge 2025, a year of huge success and joy that Jim McGuinness and the team have given supporters.
“As evidenced in the accompanying photos, young enthusiasts shared their happiness with Joe Dolan; Stephen Bonner and family had a ball in Croke Park; and PRO Frank Galligan and Stephen Kennedy were part of the happy celebrations on Jones’s Road after the semi-final.
“All plans will be firmed up after the final, but one definite date in the calendar is the Cumann Lár-Tíre Dhún na nGall Children’s Sports Day at Mullingar Shamrocks on August 30 (4-6pm). This is not exclusively for Donegal ‘weans’, but anybody interested is invited to take part in the fun and frolics.
“Sam for the Hills!”
