Biggest trout in young fisherman's career

Darragh Mulhern recently caught the largest trout to date (estimated 3lb) in his budding fishing career on Lough Owel.

The catch generated a great deal of excitement, and such was the spirit of the fish that he was assisted in reeling in the fine specimen by local fisherman David Nolan, who, by chance, happened to be passing and was kind enough to offer his expertise.

The trout was released back to the wild, as the boys are always keen to get them back in as soon as possible.

Darragh was accompanied by his brothers, Conor and Cillian, who are locals (Multyfarnham), and are now all avid fishermen after a summer of casting on the local waterways.
