June marks 85 years with extended family
A sprightly June Reynolds of Irishtown, Mullingar, celebrated her 85th birthday with husband, retired Detective Garda Jack Reynolds, their 10 children, extended family, and friends recently.
More than 60 of them gathered for a party in Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar, some travelling from many parts of Ireland and as far away as New York and South Carolina.
June is a native of Stackallen, County Meath, and Jack is originally from Aughavas, County Leitrim.
The two met when Jack joined An Garda Síochána and was posted to Navan. They married 65 years ago and moved to Mullingar, first to Harbour Street, then to Millmount Avenue and, in 1972 to Irishtown. They have 10 children, 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Among those in attendance were June’s 94-year-old step aunt Philli Dunne from Wilkinstown, County Meath. June’s siblings Finola, Brian, Cepta, June, Pati and Delores, and many of Jack and June’s close friends were also present.
Their son Michael thanked all who attended and those who sent messages and videos from as far off as Vancouver and New York.
He thanked his sister June for the enormous effort she put in to organising the celebration.
June spoke of how wonderful it was to have so many family and friends together and thanked them all for coming.
