Uisce Éireann invest to improve water supply for Bunbrosna

The community of Bunbrosna will reap the rewards of a more reliable water supply as Uisce Éireann is set to commence critical upgrade works in the area, replacing almost 1.8km of aged water mains with new pipes.

In its statement Uisce Éireann said it is committed to improving water services across the county, and the investment in Bunbrosna will result in a more secure and robust water supply for the community.

The works will improve the reliability of the water supply and reduce high levels of leakage while allowing for improved operational maintenance of the local network.

Dave Murphy, programme manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "The replacement of these old, damaged pipes will significantly lower the instances of bursts and supply disruptions along the network, providing a more secure water supply for local homes and businesses for years to come.

"We would like to extend our thanks to the community in advance for their patience and support as we arrive to deliver this much needed project to future proof the water network."

The project will take place along the N4 between Tormey’s Bar and Leny. The works will be carried out at night between 7pm and 7am to minimise impact to the community and commuters.

Traffic management will be needed, and Uisce Éireann are working with Westmeath County Council to deliver the works safely.

In addition, works began in mid-July to replace 2km of aged and vulnerable water mains in Knockdrin Estate and along the R394 at Ballynagall and Monilea. More than 365m of water main have replaced to date.

The projects will be delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme which continues to deliver significant benefits to communities across Ireland, including improved water quality, provision of a more resilient and sustainable water supply for customers, and considerable water savings.
